The 1931 movie version of Jekyll and Hyde has been great so far. The whole black and white film fits the mood of the film perfectly and just adds to the eeriness of the setting thus far. I also noticed how Dr. Jekyll's laboratory is very cluttered, messy and chaotic compared to the streets of London, and the inside of the house. Which can be a contrast from Dr. Jekyll (outside the laboratory) and Mr. Hyde (inside the laboratory).

The 1931 version has been fun to watch so far. The actor that plays Dr. Jekyll is really good at playing him. The way that he turns when he tries to save the man in the church from his "evil side" shows that he can become obsessed with his work. Also that he is willing to do anything. The way he acts during his experiments, and in his laboratory is a foreshadow to the fact he can act like two different people

The 1931 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is very interesting. I usually do not like black and white films, but this one has kept my interest the whole time. Seeing famous actors/actresses from that time period and comparing them to today's is also kind of cool. I have also already noticed that Dr. Jekyll has a lot of determination when it comes to his work, he often does not leave his labratory until he reaches his desired goal.

I like this version of Jekyll and Hyde. There's something about black and white films that I love. The actors in this film are very good and portary their characters well.

From the film we saw so far, I learn a lot that the book doesn't write. The actor of Dr. Jekyll really did a good job. He shows the personality of Dr. Jekyll who is handsome and serious about his thoery. Dr. Jekyll is like Frankenstei, they both insist on their viewpoints about science and crazily wanted to finish the experiment. Also, from Dr. jekyll's girlfriend's reactions, we can find Dr. Jekyll's changes becuase of the experiment. The changes of the story is really good.

I think everyone agrees that this film has something about it that helps it gain attraction with today's youth. The only differences I can find between this movie and the old Frankensten movie is the acting and the film quality. The acting in this movie doesn't seem quite as corny as some older movies do. The acting seems similar to acting we see today, which helps our age group relate better. The other thing was film quality. It's crystal clear. Maybe its because the movie has been remastered or something. I don't know, but I know the second that people my age see a blurry, black and white movie come on the screen we instantly assume its going to be some boring movie. This movie isn't like that, which works out for everyone

I like this version of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde a lot because it follows the book pretty closely. I didn't expect Jekyll to be such a nice normal guy even though the book says hes a normal citizen. I assumed that because it was made in 1931 in black and white, that it would be boring but it wasn't at all. I can't wait to continue it tomorrow.

I agree with some of the others about the black and white lending to the horror of the film. I don't know what it is about b&w films, but for some reason they seem more like a nightmare for me - maybe it's the departure from reality in the lack of color. Either way, this movie is already creepy and we haven't even seen the transformation yet! I really liked the argument at dinner and how that set up the conflict nicely. It was interesting to see how the filmmakers would introduce the internal struggle using external means.

I agree with most of the other comments on the black and white aspect. I've always liked black and white films and this one is no different. It especially plays a role in the freakish aspect of the film; it makes it already feel a bit creepy and once the transformation happens it'll add to the horror. I like the actor Dr Jekyll, he seems pretty good at portraying his determination and showing a good/normal side of man. I'm looking forward to the rest of the film and seeing how Mr. Hyde is portrayed!

I agree with the comments above that having the film in black and white does a great job of portraying the eeriness of the story. Usually black and white films are not that interesting to me, but this one has kept me hooked so far; the acting is very well done. The film does a great job of demonstrating some themes within the Victorian Era, especially when portraying Jekyll in his lab working with different chemicals. It shows him making advances in science, which was an important theme throughout this time period. I am interested to see what is going to happen next when Hyde is brought into the picture.

The movie is okay. I was lost in the beginning. I didnt know who was who and I didnt have any idea what was going on. Im not scared yet but we havent made it to the part where he turns into Mr. Hyde so I am excited to see what happens next!!!

I really like the 1931 version so far. For it to be an old movie, it has a lot of great actors/actresses in it. I agree with Sally, the black and white helps setting become more eerie. I also agree with Jeff, so far the movie has went along with the book.

The 1931 version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde has definitely been a great film so far. It is quite suspenseful and will keep the majority of the audience interested. Similar to what Jeff said, since it was in black and white, I expected it to be boring and cheesy, and not at all scary. I was wrong, however. The acting is surprisingly good, as are some of the special effects, the directing, and writing. As most of the students are saying, it follows the book pretty closely. It was somewhat confusing at the beginning...as Geoffrey said, it was difficult to figure out who was who.

The movie is ok, I agree with most of the comments on the black and white aspect. I am not a fan of black and white films at all, but there is something about Jekyll and Hyde that has slightly caught my attention. Hopefully the rest of the movie can keep my attention. I also like Sally's comparison of the inside and outside of the lab with Jekyll and Hyde.

I have enjoyed the movie up to this point. It has kept me interested while sticking closely to the plot of the book. I cant wait to see Mr. hyde come out and shake somethings up.

I have also noticed that the character playing Dr. Jekyll has shown that he can sometimes seem obsessive over his work and vehemently defends his work in the face of scrutiny. This seems very similar to Dr. Frankenstein's tendency to obsess over his work though Dr. Jekyll demonstrates a more pronounced polarity.

The film version of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is very interesting. I wasnt sure if it would be able to hold my attention but it has done so nicely so far. It's interesting to note how wild the movie must have been for the time period. Although nothing in it would shock us today, the violence and sexual innuendo with the barmaid would probably be considered very scandalous at the time.
The movie appears to be very professionally produced. The acting is realistic and that helps to create fear in the minds of the audience.

So far I am enjoying the movie largely because of the way it is filmed. The shots and angles are quite modern which was surprising considering the film's age. Yet I do not enjoy how, like almost all adaptations, it doesn't stay true to the beginning of the novel. Although, I am interested to see how it follows up.

So far not much has been happening in the movie for me to say if i like it or dislike it yet. I am not that much into the old movies, but so far it looked like it might be more interestiing.
